The performances in the church of Repelen have a long tradition with Manikin. This is the fourth, if one can trust the title, last recording in these consecrated walls. And maybe even the best. In seven excursions, each lasting about ten minutes, the electronic heart of the "Berlin School" is interwoven with modern ethno. "Philadelphia - The Repelen Mix" creates as much crackling atmosphere as once Tangerine Dreams "Stratosfear" despite its discreet lounge character. As always, Thomas Kagermann's violin is an experience. "Frozen Nights" allows for ethnic structures similar to those on TD's "Hyperborea" album; you imagine yourself on an icy night in the middle of a desert until the sequencers make the blood flow again. "Lazy Afternoon" docks at the replicant cosmos of "Blade Runner" and the "Clusterphonie" with childlike piano plays with memories of clusters. For the midnight tango of "Latin Grooves" Raughi Ebert even unpacks the Spanish guitar. Finally Mellotron choirs heat up and "The Last Tango" ends with one and a half minutes of violin virtuosity.
