It starts rough and violent, almost close to metal, and you think you know where the Scots of Flood Of Red are heading. But as the band themselves put it on record, it is very important to them to give each track its very own mood and thus present a versatility that is second to none. And indeed: If you have judged the somewhat monotonous guitars of the opener to be style-determining, then the second song "Part Truth/ Part Fiction" already surprises with a completely different approach: Atmospheric, dense, pathetic, almost like a song by Pearl Jam it comes along and you know that the announcement of the band was a serious one. Accordingly it goes on extremely varied: rock ballads, new art rock songs, hard rock, a little prog - there is something for everyone. Highlights are besides the catchy "Part Truth/Part Fiction" the haunting "Ye Die Ye Die" and the sublime "White Russian". In short: An album to discover and above all to listen to, surprises not excluded.
