Gold is known to be found in dirt. It's the same with album no. 5 of the band from Iowa. Parker Griggs (guitar, vocals), Paul Marrone (drums) and Anthony Meier (bass) transform the blues rock of the sixties and seventies into jewels that sound dirty but unfold their very own brilliance. Black Sabbath loans can hardly be heard anymore, most likely in "Gypsy Fast Woman", which at the same time reminds of the Doors song "Wild Child". Rather the Bluesrock à la Jimi Hendrix and Cream is recorded and the tempo is drastically increased. Opulent guitar solos oscillate between brute and hasty ("So Alone", "Rancho Tehama Airport"). But also folk music from acoustic and slide guitar gets its place ("Sweet Lil Thing"). Bridges" shows how well all elements, i.e. wah-wah sound, acoustic guitar in fingerpicking style, fast electric guitar solo and spacy effects fit together. Great class: the slow entry into the over long distances purely acoustic last track ("Stinging"), a worthy bouncer who gets stuck and makes you want to enter the smoky timeless blues bar again soon.
