After the release of his "Space Gypsy" album in 2013, Nik Turner visited the 6th Psychedelic Network Festival in Würzburg. There the ex-Hawkwind saxophonist and flutist shared the stage with the German psychedelic Space Invaders for a spontaneous performance. This is now documented in excerpts on "Sonic Noise Opera". As the Space Invaders already belong to the Who Is Who of the German psych scene, this can almost be called a giant meeting. What was put together here is also gigantic: A trip into the outer and inner space, with subtle sound passages on the one hand and comic-like, colourful sound plays on the other. Sometimes hypnotic structures build up, sometimes the musicians get entangled in apparent chaos or slide down into minute-long floating states. The one or other Spoken Word passage is reminiscent of Hawkwind. And when Nik Turner is here, he can also let off steam on the saxophone and the flute, adding the icing on the cake to the escapades of the Space Invaders. What a pleasure.
