Greatest-hits collections are always such a thing. Do they make sense for hardcore fans who already own everything from their favorite band? Who put the songs together, is such a thing not only pure "Verramsche", a kind of sales? Fortunately not in this case. Because the band itself has selected the songs and distributed 36 tracks on two CDs, which are full of suspense and variety. You can find chart strikers like "Just The One" next to rarely heard stuff, but old familiar stuff like "Far From Home" and newer material like "Truth Is". All in all, this is a selection that is suitable for new and old listeners, which shows the band's socio-critical ambitions as well as their ability to animate fans to wild dances to equally wild fiddle sounds. The live favourite "The Boatman" is missing here, but there are two Levellers songs per silver disc interpreted by other artists, among them an elegiac "Hope Street" by Billy Bragg and a jazzy "Beautiful Day" by Imelda May. Very well done and another secret top track: Frank Turner's sensitive interpretation of "Julie".
