LAKE - Live! Wings Of Freedom Tour - Spring 2014

Kategorie: CD-Reviews | Genre: Rock | Heft: Jahrgang 2014, eclipsed Nr. 165 / 11-2014 | VÖ-Jahr: 2014 | Wertung: 7.5/10 | Label: Mad As Hell | Autor: AT

Lake belonged in the seventies to the few so-called German rock bands, which could be seen in the charts. However, tracks like "On The Run" or "Time Bomb" sounded commercially smoothed according to the trend at that time, which was well received by the mainstream audience, but not so much by rock fans. In the USA the band played a package tour together with Lynyrd Skynyrd, which was quite logical, because live the guys offered a much rougher and more powerful sound. Those who want to get to know the "other" Lake can do so with this live double CD (six-page digisleeve) recorded in spring 2014, which has not been reworked. Hard blues rock ("Black Friday"), a number with optimally staged excellent vocals ("Die Just A Little"), groovy rock, where keyboards and Alex Conti's guitar complement each other, and even a track inspired by the Doobie Brothers ("Wings Of Freedom"), stand for a new, refreshing and gripping listening impression. Some bands actually mature with age.
