When two bassists do things together, music for bassists comes out. But that's not quite true when you listen to the duo album of Julie Slick (Crimson ProjeKcT, Adrian Belew Power Trio) and Marco Machera. Instead of pushing their own virtuosity to the forefront, both performers elegantly withdraw, so that "Fourth Dementia" first and foremost focuses on groove, atmosphere and elegant interplay. In between a strange experimental piece ("Feck You Op") sneaks in, which briefly leads through the freestyle galaxy. But with the ambient prog "Infinity x 1" the listener is slowly beamed back to earth, which is also ensured by Slick's brother Eric (dr), who reacts almost telepathically to the specifications of the two bassists. You can sink into the dream-pop "Overcome" for minutes without getting bored, which also applies to the "1986", which is carried by loop sounds. A real listener is also the opener "Green", in which Marco Machera creates jubilant melodies with his fretless bass.
