The Blues Band has produced a wonderful new album (Digipak), which also scores with contributions from illustrious guests (Southside Johnny, Maggie Bell, Al Kooper, Mike Sanchez), who leave their mark on the respective songs. With the usual humorous and driving tracks ("I Believe I'm In Love With You"), but also by highlighting different facets, the group can keep the suspense going over the entire playing time of a good 60 minutes. Slow blues in the style of Fleetwood Mac ("Suddenly I Like It"), rousing shuffle ("My Toot Toot"), an acoustic number ("That's My Way") and funkblues ("Road") give a great album that certain something. That's how you make modern blues.
