"The Lion's Roar", the remarkable second album of the Swedish Söderberg sisters, is perhaps the saddest of its kind. It's "the saddest thing you ever heard," they say. And indeed songs like "The Lion's Roar", "In The Hearts Of Men" and "To A Poet" are the most painful we've heard lately. The First Aid Kid exudes a melancholy that makes you happy. This is the soundtrack for your own world conquest plans or anything else important you have in mind. "I Found A Way" is sophisticated songwriting with dark Mellotron, which spreads very special moods in the way of Midlake. "Dance To Another Tune" is driving, demanding and carried by the wonderful voices of these enchanting sisters. Likewise "Wolf", which is too beautiful to be true and should be considered a blueprint for any American folk song. Last but not least there is "King Of The World", to which The Felice Brothers and Conor Oberst have actively lent a hand.
