Guitar star John Scofield has already recorded two studio albums with the groove jazz trio Medeski Martin & Wood. Now it was time for a live double album. Although the two components of this constellation meet only sporadically, they merge into a symbiotic unity. What they celebrate is jazz rock at the highest level. They groove like hell. Often it is not quite clear which sound goes back to Scos multiple electric guitar and which to the intuition of the omnipotent keyboarder John Medeski. Scofield plays with some of the best guitar solos of his career in a rage that makes it crackle and crackle. Although all the pieces on offer already exist in studio versions, the game remains full of surprises and unpredictable at no point. That's how jazz rock is fun.
