After "Bridges Of Kukuriku", the last studio album, now follows "Brigdes Of The Old Fishing Mine", which was recorded in August 2011 at the Fonnfeesten in Lokeren. The album bridges the gap between old and new of the Belgian spacer rockers. Half of the almost 80-minute playing time is taken up by five tracks from the last album, which fit seamlessly into the older tracks. No wonder: Quantum Fantay have been playing this powerful, colourful mix of psychedelic and spacer rock since the first album. What is striking is that the live versions adhere strongly to the studio specifications. Sprawling jams and improvisations are not QF's thing. But the sound is absolutely brilliant. That these are live recordings can only be noticed by the applause of the audience. Of course, this is exactly the music the Ozric Tentacles invented 30 years ago. But the synthesizer sounds are more conventional, not so extroverted. Sometimes you even think you hear the venerable Minimoog. If you like it colourful and funny, you get your money's worth here.
