QUEEN - Their 50 biggest songs

Queen emphasized throughout their career that they are essentially a hard rock band. In fact, the English kept increasing the hardness of their songs as much as they liked. And yet there is hardly a formation of its caliber that has tried its hand in so many different genres. This stylish heterogeneity is also reflected in our ranking of the 50 greatest songs of the pomp quartet.

In the following excerpt, he reports on his first impressions of New York and the international breakthrough of his band with their appearance at the Woodstock Festival.

WARREN HAYNES - Der Mann aus den Bergen

GRATEFUL DEAD - The Naked and the Dead

On the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of their foundation, Grateful Dead don't let themselves be lumped together: The cult formation, which has been shut down since the death of master guitarist Jerry Garcia, will reunite after twenty years. SYMPHONY X - Die Hölle auf Erden

With their ninth studio album "Underworld" Symphony X descend into the nine circles of hell and at the same time renew their hard to refute claim to the throne of the progressive metal world. The metal factor is still a big part of their music, but thanks to the fantastic balance between hardness and melody, old fans of the quintet from New Jersey should feel at home again.

ANEKDOTEN - Kreative Höhenflüge knapp unterm Radar

Her latest studio work "Until All The Ghosts Are Gone" scored just short of the title "record of the month" in our last issue. Since the beginning of the nineties, anecdotes have been played together in an unchanged line-up. The big breakthrough has been denied to the Swedish group so far, but they have cultivated a sound for a long time, with which bands like Opeth are very successful.

DAVE SCHMIDT - News from the Sulatron research

Emsig like no other in the local psychedelic and space rock landscape Dave Schmidt hurries from release to release, changes from band to band. As if there were: Sula Bassana, Electric Moon, Zone Six and Krautzone. Almost in passing, he also has his own label, Sulatron Records. All this has been going on for years and with tireless consistency.

ASIA - Waiting for Wetton

Geoff Downes would like to start working on a new Asia album right away. But he's currently hanging in the air again. His songwriting partner, singer/bassist John Wetton, has just been operated on. A tumor weighing almost a kilo was pulled out of him. So the live document "Axis XXX Live San Francisco" from the last tour with Steve Howe of the band fits well into the stuff.
