FATE - Ghosts From The Past

For five years the Danish AOR experts let their fans fidget: The only original member, bassist Pete Steiner, completely changed the quintet during this time. Most important newcomer is the Färöer Dagfinn Joenson at the micro. But those who now expect great sound changes will not find them on the new work of the Nordmänner. Already the powerful opening track "Children Of The Night" reveals the proven Fate recipe: catchy melodies, artfully embedded in a hardrock-compatible AOR sound environment. Joenson, who fits in so well, is convincing all along the line, as if he had always been the Fate front man. In the midtempo tracks ("All That I Want") he sounds clear as a bell, while in the harder tracks ("I Believe In Rock'n'Roll", "Moving On", "The Other Side") he is much rougher and more angular. "Ghosts From The Past" has become both a typical and an emotionally gripping AOR-album, which lovers of the genre can hardly ignore. Despite its individual class, however, it does not have what it takes to become a classic.
