If you experience more speeding cars on the motorways in the near future than usual, it could be because many drivers have the latest Maccabees CD in their player and are listening to "Pelican". More wildly and above all faster than pretty much anything that has come out of Great Britain lately, the current work of the Five presents itself. Especially with that song. "They gave us the first classic in 2012," cheers the NME online. Anyway, they gave us a tried and tested remedy for Coldplay fatigue, and that's something. In fact, the band dares a lot. The majority of the thirteen songs get much more time to develop than you know from the average radio hit. But you rarely treat yourself and the listener to a (psychedelic) respite like with "Forever I've Known" or "Go". Usually drummer Sam Doyle sets a rapid tempo or contributes a nervously driving beat. Bass and keyboard are more concise than the guitars this time. I wonder if Muse found their stadium-filling successors here
