Robert Fripp remixes Grinderman's "Heathen Child" and lifts Nick Cave into the King Crimson universe. That alone is a sensation. Josh Homme from Queens Of The Stone Age, Faris Badwin from Horrors, Matt Berninger from The National, Nick Zinner from The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, UNKLE, A Place To Bury Strangers, Andy Weatherall as well as old cave comrades like Barry Adamson and Jim Sclavunos have lent a hand to gain new perspectives on the album "Grinderman 2". The remixers sound out new boundaries in the songs, which Cave alone would obviously not have found. Now this isn't the first remix album in history, but unlike the usual, we don't find here a disjointed collection of individual tracks, but also the second round of this album is a compelling unity. The subversive element of this already quite gloomy and chaotic record is increased by a few crucial levels. The remixers are less concerned with their own aesthetics than with doing as much as possible justice to the intentions of the creator of the originals.
