Damien DeRose will probably not win a prize for great innovations in the field of popular music with this album. His thirteen songs are too dignified, sometimes even too interchangeable, to have to break out into a jubilation storm. A healthy amount of cultivated melancholy cannot be denied to the songs of the American of course. He also makes an audible effort to put a lot of authenticity into them. But unfortunately he doesn't tear you from your stool. There are hardly any surprises, the album flows like a calm river. The vocals are pleasantly unobtrusive and, which speaks for Peasant, not like 90 percent of his contemporaries completely echoed. Even though "Bound For Glory" isn't exactly exciting, DeRose at least presents a pleasant record that reveals successful songwriting skills and sounds professionally recorded.
