The importance that Youtube has for the discovery and discovery of young musicians is no longer to be underestimated. In addition to its role as a medium for the self-portrayal of talentless teenagers, the video channel is also a subtle instrument of viral marketing, as the recent case of Lana Del Rey has shown. The Australian Emma Russack, who also caused a sensation in her home country via Youtube, moves, so to speak, in her slipstream with an unconventional version of Black Sabbath's "Planet Caravan". Her album "Sounds Of Our City" is now released worldwide and shows that she is a talented storyteller. The first track "Tonight" immediately captures the listener: The story of a desperate One Night Stand is both dirty and touchingly told. Unfortunately, the rest of the record doesn't maintain this level. The following nine songs are pleasing modern blues. Russack's singing voice sounds pleasantly bold. Their songs are quite successful, but by no means earth-shattering. So the whole thing adjusts to the same sound a little bit too fast on album length.

Top track: Tonight
