After twenty studio albums and a career spanning fifty years, one can admit to an oldtimer that he fulfils a wish with interpretations of his own favourite songs. In addition, Clapton's albums have always been distinguished by interpretations of the songs of other artists. After the last Blues and brass soaked album "Clapton" from 2010, the ironically titled album "Old Sock" features the typical Laid-Back sound brand "Slowhand" and "461 Ocean Boulevard" and should delight many fans with licks loosely shaken from the guitar god's hand, female choral singing and relaxed reggae rhythms. "Further On Down The Road" by and with Taj Mahal is the best example of this. J.J. Cale's "Angel" is Clapton's warmest feel-good ballad in a long time. "All Of Me" invites Paule McCartney to a lounge jazz cocktail. "Born To Lose", known by Ray Charles, and Gary Moore's "Still Got The Blues" he should have stifled. There are two brand new convincing original compositions with the soul rocker "Gotta Get Over" and the reggae ballad "Every Little Thing" on top.
