The new Savoy Brown, led by Kim Simmonds, have released with "Voodoo Moon" 2011 a reasonable but not very exciting studio album. Live, on the other hand, the musicians act with more verve, above all Simmonds, whose guitar playing is pleasantly in the tradition of British blues ("She's Got The Heat"). Recorded at Musiktheater Piano in Dortmund, the band offered a cross-section of new numbers and classics like "Looking In" and the incomparable "Hellbound Train". Great album, which works through its dynamics and honesty. The DVD contains the two bonus tracks "Little Red Rooster" and "Louisiana Blues" compared to the CD.
