The Finns have already recorded the tracks of their new album "Manner", about 30 years old, in 2011. So it's no wonder that four of them were already represented on the 2012 live album "Serpent". On "Manner" Circle have dedicated themselves to an avant-garde rock, which is both humorous (always a facet of the band) and theatrical. There is nothing left of the merciless hardcore riffs of past days apart from a few heavy high-speed passages. Instead Circle rely on extroverted vocal acrobatics, original to strange arrangements, tricky songs, diverse dissonances and artistic demands. This convinces in "Lintu Joe", "Potero" or in the Brian-Eno-Cover "Here Come The Warm Jets". But it goes wrong in other tracks. So "Manner" is an ambivalent album with some difficult moments. If you haven't had enough of Circle yet, you can enjoy the new editions of the long out-of-print Circle albums "Vesiliirto" (2003) and "Golem" (live, 2003), both with extensive bonus material.
