With his eleventh album as Terminal Sound System, one half of the doom duo Halo, Skye Klein, returns to the bizarre worlds of atmospheric postrock, which, with occasional excursions into electronic and doomed realms, has what it takes to create a soundtrack for very special apocalyptic films. TSS uses "A Sun Spinning Backwards" for the stars, although they are not recognizable in the cloudy soundscapes streaming here. The semi-instrumental "Deep Black Ash" is the best example of this. Then follows "Oceans", a course ride with powerful drumming and effective tension increases, which always adds to the powder when you think the maker shot his powder. Seamlessly this brute ovation merges into "Clearsight", a kind of electronic symphony with a timpani beat, whose already stormy mood is further exaggerated by snare and sequencer. And in "What Will Come" comes with nuanced noisy advances that give a slight hint into the halo past of the protagonist.
