DANA FUCHS - Bliss Avenue

Kategorie: CD-Reviews | Genre: Blues/Bluesrock | Heft: Jahrgang 2013, eclipsed Nr. 153 / 9-2013 | VÖ-Jahr: 2013 | Wertung: 8/10 | Label: Ruf | Autor: AT

Dana Fuchs, the "Sadie" from the film "Across The Universe", sees the blues more as the basis from which she sets out for a hard and energetic sound. The combination of quite different compositions and Fuchs' continuously present voice with a range from sexy seductive to rather passive makes the disc a pleasure to listen to. Americana ("Daddy's Little Girl"), Country-Rock ("Rodents In The Attic"), a number with which she resurrects Bessie Smith ("Bliss Avenue"), Soulblues ("Livin' On Sunday") and Bluesrock with rock elements provide variety and kick enormously. A classic femme fatale that eats the listener alive.
