Rock from Inner Mongolia: For ten years now, frontman Ilchi and his band Hanggai have been driving a refreshing crossover from the traditional folk of their homeland and western rock. The priorities are Mongolian music. Ballads like "Golden Autumn", which evoke the vastness of the Mongolian steppes, grooving ethnic rock like "Tavan Hasag", which carries the energy of the hordes of Genghis Khan, or the mighty rocking "Hong Galou": "Baifang" truly possesses the power of a thousand horses.
