Incura from Vancouver are among the most interesting newcomers to the German label Inside Out. Founded in 2003, the quintet has already released four EPs, but has not yet demonstrated its qualities in full-length format. It's over now. Because with the self-titled debut album, which was created over a period of two years, Incura go the whole hog. Stylistically the band moves in the modern prog(metal)-area, but is more theatrical than most of their competitors ("I'm Here Waiting", "Who You Are"). With singer Kyle Gruninger Incura have a true master of ceremonies at their disposal, who characterizes the ten new pieces with his versatile voice and awakens associations with great voices such as Matt Bellamy (Muse) and Chester Bennington (Linkin Park). Even with the grooves Incura go their own way, because instead of rocking in straight 4/4 time, they prefer the more flowing 6/8 time or combine both meters, for example with the emotional roller coaster "I'd Give Anything" and the catchy tune "The Greatest Con". "Incura" is staged in a varied way, but always seems to be coherent. This band should be remembered.
