Again, tribute is paid to a band whose size only became apparent after their death. Gothic didn't have a name when Ian Curtis & Co. indulged in their self-destructive, then controversial world-view and sensational sound, which was the reason why everything turned to black afterwards. Joy Division thus became, next to Bauhaus or The Cure, pioneers of the Gothic. So it's not surprising that on "Shadow Play", another laudation for the grandmasters of the Wave, almost only representatives from the 'black' environment can be heard, in sisters-of-mercy style, with rumbling drummachines and coming from all over Europe. Some find it difficult to live up to their role models. In this way they are projected onto one's own musical ideas and points of view, which does not always work or convince. The Tors Of Dartmoor, Paul Roland and Second Skin with their performances of the JD classics "Shadowplay", "Day Of The Lords" and "She's Lost Control" have made successful contributions.
