DISILLUSION erweisen sich einmal mehr als eine der wahrhaftigsten Bands Deutschlands

"It just had to feel right again", explains Andy Schmidt, guitarist, singer and head of Disillusion, when asked why 13 years had to go by before the Leipzig progressive metal band could finish their third longplayer "The Liberation". "In 2010/11 I had already finished a rough album, but to be honest my body went on strike. On a private level, after the last album 'Gloria' in 2004, children have been added, and also professionally a lot has changed, so that the focus could understandably no longer be completely on the music.

Because when Disillusion make a new album, everything else has to move massively into the background. I don't mean that arrogant either, but an album like 'The Liberation' just can't be made in your spare time. And a pseudo-old comeback was out of the question for us either." The high artistic demands of the band were therefore ultimately without alternative, even though they were also afflicted with considerably more pitfalls.

Thanks to a very successful crowdfunding campaign, Schmidt was finally able to concentrate on writing the album for almost two years without any financial worries. "At first I tried it in our small studio, but there I basically failed with an announcement. The normal everyday life catches up with you there again and again. In the end, the album was made in a forest hut in the Czech Republic, where I retired for almost 14 weeks."
