On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Hawkwind's 1970s appearance at the legendary Isle Of Wight Festival, Alan J. Bound and his band played at the Hawkfest on the Isle Of Wight in 2010. The Cologne-based gave the audience exactly what they craved: pure spacerock, the Hawkwind brand. This is now documented in excellent sound quality (mastering by Eroc) on "Live At Isle Of Wight". As it should have been, "Masters Of The Universe" was also a Hawkwind classic in the almost 50-minute performance at the start. Alan J. Bound didn't really need it, because his own song material has it all. He doesn't reinvent anything, but his Spacerock has everything Spacerock needs: alienated spoken word passages, driving beats, extra-worldly synths, monster guitar riffs, one or the other guitar solo à la David Gilmour and exotic sounds. That's from front to back with no weakness. Especially the guitar work is beyond any doubt. And: "Deep Space" is just mercilessly horny, with a rhythm that takes everything with it.
