The current live release of Yes is followed by a concert recording of the "hunted" ex-Yes-Men Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman. This raises the question of whether there could be competition between the two camps. Be that as it may, the charismatic Yes singer and the once golden-robed keyboarder deliver part 1 of a live document of their 2011 duo tour through Great Britain. This is almost an unplugged recording: Only acoustic guitar, piano and synths were used. "And You And I" comes across, so reduced, but still magical, and in the end almost Christmassy. The two-part "The Living Tree" with its sparkling piano hangs even more musical Christmas garlands on the imaginary tree. "Morning Star" with a powerful piano touch and differentiated harmonies and the grooving "Long Distance Runaround" are much more earthly. Many things are quasi "Jon & Vangelis light", Wakeman's keyboard sounds often remain too sweet.
