"Youngblood", last year's previous album, has knocked the whole hard rock-affine scene out of its socks. The bar is accordingly high for their fifth album "Pure Heavy". "Wolf In My Heart", the opener, immediately makes it clear that the five Norwegians are once again acting at a similarly high level of energy. However, Audrey Horne's songs are not about them always racing through high speed regions, rather you get the impression that the neck hairs are always upright. In order not to miss out on the coolness factor, "Pure Heavy" features the sound borrowing from Thin Lizzy, which is already obligatory for Scandinavians. "Tales From The Crypt is taking this casual factor from another angle. This is a track that Billy Squier could have brought to his classic albums "The Tale Of The Tape" (1980) and "Don't Say No" (1981). In contrast to "Youngblood" "Pure Heavy" seems a bit more ordinary, but confirms that Audrey Horne belong to the best of today's hardrock scene.
