After the rather reduced crowdfunding project "Casulties Of Cool", which Devin Townsend mainly conducted in jazz ambients, the Canadian now offers his famous "Wall Of Sound" in a double pack with "Z²". The first album "Sky Blue" is a direct line to the wide screen pop of "Accelerated Evolution", "Addicted" and "Epicloud". With "Rejoice" or "Silent Militia" things get a bit rougher at times, but bombastic melody monoliths like "Fallout", "Universal Flame" or "Before We Die" clearly define the scenery. It goes without saying that the enchanting Anneke van Giersbergen must not be missing in this context. The 2007 album "Ziltoid The Omniscient", which was recorded at that time "for 500 dollars, with a drum machine, a microphone and a Line6 Pod", was continued by "Dark Matters", the sequel to the 2007 album. But also the second part of Townsend's very personal version of "Mars Attacks!" delivers the full production broadside (incl. choir and orchestra), crazy instrumental descents and funny radio play sequences for shooting.
