No, "In Deathʼs Shadows" really isn't a new box, because the Australians Knightmare already had their debut album (after the 2008 EP "Unholy") in their box in 2012. But only now the worldwide label release follows, which doesn't deny the qualities of the band. The quartet from Melbourne combines power metal of American and European coinage, without falling into the respective cliché traps. In other words: The seven overlong songs live mainly from strong riffs and offer one or the other technical-progressive swing. But the band also has keyboard bombast, wonderful two-part leads, a few oriental splashes of colour and acoustic inserts in the quiver. There's even some blastbeats in this grab bag. And in the final eleven-minute instrumental track "Judgment" guitarist/keyboarder Luke Besley demonstrates his skills on the cello. To be at the top of the Powermetal genre, you need more songwriting finesse, but "In Deathʼs Shadows" is anything but a pipe-breaker.
