Two years ago Modest Midget made their debut with an album that eluded categorization. What the Swedish Beardfish merged in styles, cultures and epochs in the Progkosmos, the Dutch merged around singer, composer and guitarist Lonny Ziblat in the pop universe. The band consistently continues this strategy with "Crysis", in which again numerous guest musicians took part. Only this time it's even wilder and more virtuoso. Shanties, Zappaeskes, Jazz snippets, Psychedelic, Prog, Folk, Blues, Rock'n'Roll and all sorts of bizarre stuff pass by the bewildered listener at breathtaking speed, held together by a pop attitude between the Beatles and XTC. The two acts also mark the time span in which Ziblat and Co. prefer to stay musically: in the sixties, seventies and eighties. The following sample may be sufficient to describe what happens on "Crysis": Roy Orbinson's "Pretty Woman", for example, is turned into a ludicrous ska number, followed by "Flight Of The Cockroach", a fast-paced piece in which Tomita and Gentle Giant seem to have collaborated.
