Professional melancholic Christophe Mevel once again finds himself in a dark realm. While his Dale Cooper Quartet is setting imaginary film noir flicks to music, his solo project is even darker and more obscure. It leads the listener into an imaginary ghost village. Does anyone remember the oppressive sound collages from the movie "Silent Hill"? That's how "Paal" sounds. Sad piano melodies, torn violin runs and mysterious field recordings determine the film music for the very personal horror head cinema. She was recorded in February 2010 during a trip through Alaska. A correspondingly frosty mood can also be clearly heard on each of the six tracks. Did a door creak? Why are the violins becoming more threatening? Suddenly silence. Icy winds. During the first listening session, you get away with a slight fright. With each further more and more perceived fine sound details intensify the pleasant shudder. Headphones offer optimum listening pleasure. Happy scary!
