The album debut was preceded by two demo EPs, after which Adrian Belew outed himself as a Pirate fan "Left Of Mind" is half an hour of pure adrenaline: bone-dry riffs alternate with semi-jazzy saxophone escapades and (harmonic) vocal parts, with which Pirate have made themselves comfortable in the area of tension between King Crimson and Steven Wilson. Here the "Schizoid Man" meets "The Holy Drinker" in an exciting way, which is really not a bad combination.
