What a turmoil it was when the 19-year-old, extremely shy Austrian released a debut album with the silly pseudonym that you had never heard before in this form. "Lovetune For Vacuum" was spooky, challenging and mysterious, though not quite as outstanding as many critics would have you believe. Now, almost three years later, the second prank follows with "Narrow", even if it's more of an EP. Eight songs, including a successful, dark cover version of the Desireless pop hit "Voyage Voyage" from 1986, but above all the first song sung in German, "Vater". This opens the song cycle and is hardly bearable in his intimacy and darkness: Anja Plaschg sings about the death of her father with brutally open words to minor notes from her piano. A penetrating, hard to digest introduction that promises more than the rest of "Narrow" can deliver. The remaining six tracks fall off a bit because of their sometimes half-cooked mixture of piano avant-garde and electropop. Nevertheless, all in all a rousing sound experience that marks a consistent further development.
