The Swede Sofia Ekberg can look back on a somewhat unusual career for a musician. We are not dealing here with a youngster who is releasing his debut EP here, but with an experienced woman who works as a teacher in her home country. From her early childhood she liked to make music, returned to her guitar and her self-written songs again and again and has now presented her first release. With songs, she writes, that simply waited to be finally released into the world. Fortunately this has now happened, one must say in view of these wonderfully delicate, melancholic pieces. Sofia Ekberg tells little everyday stories, but with the wisdom and grandeur of a great songwriter. Two of the six pieces are sung in Swedish and resemble Scandinavian folk tunes, although their true strength is more evident in the four English songs. Let's hope that she already has a debut in album length in the works.
