Within Temptation continue to orient themselves towards the mainstream. Which in this case, however, is by no means to be understood as a reproach. After all, the Dutch were already relatively easy to consume in the past, and regular top ten chart positions and precious metal awards are not necessarily conquered with rough edges. "Hydra", the sixth album of the band around singer Sharon Den Adel and guitarist/ songwriter Robert Westerholt, presents all of the popular facets of the band in a modern sounding Cinemascope-Breitwand production with a catchy pop guarantee. In addition, a whole squad of illustrious guest stars are being played. "Paradise (What About Us?)", Sharon's duet with the former Nightwish soprano Tarja Turunen, had already been decoupled. In addition there is now the cooperation with HipHopper Xzibit ("And We Run" sounds like it takes getting used to - does it make you even more averse to the US market?), Dave Pirner (Soul Asylum) and Howard Jones (ex-Killswitch-Engage). A forward looking album.
