TOOL - „Es klingt wie Tool, 13 Jahre später“

"The long awaited album of..." - one of the most popular phrases of label promoters to pretend interest in artists where there is often none. Different with Tool: With a new work by the Alternative Progmetal act, the expectations are indeed immense. Tool are a mystery, their lyrics, artwork and music are the subject of devoted discussions among supporters of the US quartet. Tools' fifth album, "Fear Inoculum", is now being released, and at once a host of new material will be released, plunged into its complex symbols.

13 years between two studio albums may be an eternity for most bands, but Tool has its own laws. With a combination of bravery, anticipation and fatalism, the four US musicians have endured the countless announcements, shifts and distortions around the fifth studio album "Fear Inoculum". They are not only perfectionists, they also have a lot of other things around their ears. That's where it takes as long as it takes. We spoke on the phone with singer Maynard James Keenan.

eclipsed: Maynard, what's going on with you right now?

Maynard James Keenan: We brought most of the apples in the morning and will make cider this morning.

eclipsed: Do you need the activity on your farm and vineyard Caduceus Cellars as compensation?

Keenan: I don't think so actively about it, I just do, but if you ask me: We always try to have balance in our lives, and even if it wasn't the stated goal, it's a welcome by-product. We moved here to Arizona and I found out that the terrain is very good for growing wine.

eclipsed: You were on a European tour a few weeks ago. How did it feel to play together again after such a long time?

Keenan: Fantastic! The infrastructure of a tour has become more pleasant for us, we have it more comfortable. I was with Puscifer two years ago and A Perfect Circle last year, and we all found a way to make touring a pleasant experience for us.

eclipsed: It took, to say the least, a while. Were you always aware that Tool would come back someday?

Keenan: Absolutely. The four of us just need a very long time to make decisions and get things moving. Maybe longer than before.
