Robbi Robb kept his word. In the eclipsed interview on the last 3rd-Ear Experience album "Boi" (2013) he talked about releasing a Spacerock album next. Et voilà: "Incredible Good Fortune" is pure spacerock. But of course with the peculiarities that distinguish this native South African who has been living in the USA for many years. The album has its origin in psychedelic jams in the Mojave Desert. The sound is grounded accordingly. The dust-dry charm of stoner rock can be found in the five tracks (at 75 minutes playing time) as well as Indian songs. But these are only facets, otherwise the sound is characterized by driving, fast rhythms, guitar riffs and guitar solos. You can also marvel at offworld synth sounds, but they often only sound in the background. Saxophone, flute and occasional singing, which mostly swings up to ethereal hymns, complete the sound palette. While "Boi" still showed certain song structures, "Incredible Good Fortune" has got rid of any compactness: It's just a great space trip.
