There is music, there are automatically certain images in the head. In the case of Devil's Heaven, the new formation of Jonas Reingold (among others Flower Kings, Karmakanic), Jaime Salazar (ex-FloKis, Allen-Lande) and Richard Andersson (Time Requiem, Space Odyssey), a long mane and the typical hard rock stage posings come to mind. The Swedes offer crunchy melodic rock/metal, which however comes along with well-known stereotypes. Rich riffs, mostly fast tempos, clear guitar or keyboard solos, and a voice that fits perfectly to this sound. Don't misunderstand: Singer Marcus Nygren does a great job and, like the other musicians, is beyond all doubt. But there is a bit of the element of surprise missing overall. The classic hard rock song comes with an announcement as well as the obligatory (and quite successful) power ballad ("Touched By An Angel") or the metal fireworks. After all: the 56 minutes can be well heard, also thanks to the 1a production. And as far as the long manes are concerned: one can be mistaken, as the band photo shows.
