The Black Keys have just put their fabulous party fun "El Camino" into orbit with great fuss, and guitarist and singer Dan Auerbach is back with another amazing production. This time he is not the main actor, but only producer and guitarist. But that doesn't stand out at all, because the actual Master Of Ceremonies of this CD, old master Dr. John, is so close to Mr. Auerbach with his vocals and melodies despite the brass that the whole record sounds like an outtake album of the duo from Akron. It is remarkable that Dr. John remains absolutely faithful to his fat Swamp Blues, which he has been practicing for decades. The two just searched and found each other. The sometimes a little too eccentric oldtimer takes the opportunity to return to the middle of life with this production. And Dan Auerbach has looked after his mentor Danger Mouse long enough to recommend himself as a producer alternative to Joe Henry or T-Bone Burnett in the future.
