The feeling that remains after listening to the second album of the British quartet The Jezabels is a double-edged one: On the one hand the album sounds really convincing in parts - and this is mainly due to the rousing vocals - and reminds at least in the quieter parts of classical indie pop bands like 10.000 maniacs, in the faster ones even of the go-gos. On the other hand, the band too often moves at the border to the trivial pop of the 90's and unfortunately exceeds these times with increasing playing time of the album. If the guitars clink loud enough, the Jezebels often get their act together and serve nice indie pop songs. But if the drums suddenly become too swinging and the bass too danceable, the whole thing sometimes even sounds like Beyoncé and friends. So don't be so tingly. But you can certainly work on that for the next album.
