Autry Fulbright II, bassist at Trail Of Dead, had the band name for his project in mind for a long time. When his father died, it sparked off Midnight Masses. From 2008 to 2014, however, it was to take some time before his experiences with farewells were translated into music and finally led to his debut album "Departures". Trail-Of-Dead colleague Jason Reece came on board and together they worked on the more electronic work, which had an almost cathartic effect on Fulbright. The purifying power of artistic processing of grief and pain produced an amazingly powerful, but also more relaxing than disturbing listening experience. After all, this is not only about death, but also about saying goodbye to ideas, phases of life, friends, places, in other words final points that always mark new beginnings. Musically this is processed with elements from Ambient, Trance, Wave, Soul and Funk. In addition to the two protagonists, 13 guest musicians have breathed life into the tracks.
