With Ellen Barkin, Ólafur Arnalds had a truly renowned advocate to gain a foothold in Hollywood. In just two weeks - the Icelandic musician and composer didn't have more time - he wrote the music for "Another Happy Day", the new film by Sam Levinson, in which Demi Moore and Ellen Burstyn act alongside the aforementioned. "Another Happy Day" has again become a typical Arnalds album. He recorded it together with a string quartet, which further increases the intensity of his compositions. Here all drama is pure, everything is in minor and no bright moment recognizable. Nevertheless, the music remains of a lively lightness that is unique and actually typical for the 24-year-old musician. With the exception of the overflowing final track "Everything Must Change", Arnald's special Chopin highlight, all tunes are pure still lifes, snapshots for very special moments. With the massive finale the musician then goes to the limits of the possibilities available to him and scratches the post-rock.
