If one believes the rumors about the origin of this album, it concerns here exclusively song material, which was already written in the seventies. The accusation is therefore that this is about the reprocessing of songs from the committee at that time. On the other hand, the albums of that time were only half an hour long and so there was probably a good song that fell through the grid every now and then. I mean, these 13 songs, spread over 50 minutes, convey the original Van Halen feeling. At least in the first moment the guitar-heavy tracks like "As Is", "Outta Space" or "The Trouble With Never" can inspire. "A Different Kind Of Truth" is the band restart after Eddie Van Halen pressed the "Reset" button. It goes without saying that no innovative masterpiece was created in the process. However, no fan of the David Lee Roth era will be sad about this active coming to terms with the past. And compared to the last studio work "Van Halen III" (1998) with Gary Cherone, the new record is a 1000% increase.
