THE DOORS - Magic Moments

They haven't heard it in one piece for a long time, John Densmore and Robby Krieger smile at the eclipsed date in Los Angeles. That would certainly not be because the Doors' debut would be unpleasant for them today. "We played the pieces so often that we could even take them backwards," Krieger laughs. And the 71-year-old continues: "When I happen to hear us driving a car on the radio, I turn up the volume because I'm incredibly proud of it." Which the guitarist has every reason to do. Because what the group recorded in August 1966 on just six days is a milestone. A work that has sold twenty million copies, has been reprinted several times and still sounds magical.

A TODSICHERES BUSINESS - Jeff Jampol manages faded rock stars

A lucrative business, as his office on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles shows. Because Jampol Artist Management Inc. resides in the Plaza del Sol - in the epicenter of Hollywood. The walls are littered with rock devotional objects, three employees and a secretary look discreetly stressed on an early Monday morning, and the boss receives behind a monstrous desk, which is completely overloaded with files, books, CDs and notes. The first impression: not a smooth businessman in a designer suit, but no Vollnerd either. Jeff Jampol is a big, brawny guy in jeans and T-shirt, whose handshake is painful and proves to be a mixture of music freak and marketing genius. Finally he discovered a gap in the market, which - because Rock'n'Roll is getting older and older - is absolutely crisis-proof and where he has no competition so far.

U2 - The ultimate live band

The true greatness of U2 proves itself in its live capabilities. Like no other band in the world, the Irish have been able to stage themselves anew again and again over the past four decades, and have captivated even the most critical of audiences. While their studio albums are subject to strong qualitative fluctuations, Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. are still a power on stage today. eclipsed shows why and garnished the whole thing with concert memories of its authors.

THE DOORS - The unloved double

John Densmore, a white-haired 70-year-old, takes a deep breath: "When Jim was in Paris, we continued to work on new songs that we wanted to record with him when he returned," said the Doors drummer. "The longer he stayed in France, the more material it became. When we got the news of his death, we were in the studio. My first reaction was: He's probably drunk on the beach in Haiti. Then we continued to play until we realized the full implications."

Mr. Mojo risin' and fallin'

Everything was different when the Doors went into the studio in November 1970 to record their sixth studio album "L.A. Woman". The band was more experienced than ever and yet everything felt different: new producer, new studio, new members and a new structure in the band. On the occasion of the re-release of the last album with Jim Morrison eclipsed spoke with Robby Krieger and Ray Manzarek - and had the complete back catalogue commented.

The eclipsed annual review 2009

The first decade of the third millennium is behind us. What this remains in the memory from a cultural-historical point of view is not yet quite clear. The fog has to clear a little. One thing, however, is already clear: Rock has asserted its position, which it regained in the nineties. Just in 2009 he reaped another amazing harvest.

THE DOORS
Myth of the Resurrection

What would The Doors be without Jim Morrison? Or the other way around, what would Jim Morrison be without The Doors? Morrison is an icon, the Doors are a legend. A myth that is refreshed every few years with a new compilation. 40 years after the release of their cult debut The Doors now let all their samplers lead into a "The Very Best Of". But who needs a new Doors compilation? After all, no new material has been added for 35 years, and the only two albums without Morrison were never released on CD.
