Prophets of doom - GAZPACHO tell of a machine that could destroy the universe

The dim light in the backstage area of Zeche Carl in Essen fits perfectly into the dark atmosphere that the Norwegian quintet has created on their new album. Keyboarder and main songwriter Thomas Anderson seems at first glance like the exact opposite of Gazpacho's dark art: a blond sonnyboy with an engaging, friendly character. But the moment he starts to talk about "Molok", you notice in every word the seriousness with which he and singer Jan Henrik Ohme approached the concept: "Every person, certainly you too, has already asked himself questions about existence, death, the afterlife. Why are we here? What is our mission on earth? "No less important is 'Molok', these existential questions."

These philosophical reflections are embedded in a story about a man who came to the conclusion in the 1920s that "if we look at the universe mechanically, all events are the result of previous events" He builds a machine that is capable of "calculating past and future figures with sufficient information". After every successful calculation, the machine, named after the hostile Semitic god Moloch, who crushes children, crushes these astronomical numbers. Since, according to this theory, each event can be assigned a combination of numbers, this also applies to Judgment Day. If the machine stumbles across this code one day, it's good night.
