25 JAHRE INSIDEOUT - Vom Minilabel zum Global Player

With the release of David Cross' "Testing To Destruction" the success story of the proglabel InsideOut began. Thomas Waber and Michael Schmitz founded the record company in Kleve, North Rhine-Westphalia, which has become an important international player under the Sony umbrella. Waber is still a passionate and passionate chef who sets the direction. He still thinks first of all of the artists.

eclipsed: InsideOut turns 25. What would you have said in 1993 if you knew what would happen to you?

Thomas Waber: I don't know. I slipped in there classically, one resulted in the other. There never was a real plan. There may have been a vision.

eclipsed: What did it look like?

Waber: Actually it was never primarily about progressive rock. We just knew a lot of bands back then and they didn't get their records. The infrastructure was gone. We wanted to create them again and help our friends. That was the vision. In the end, it became a business.

eclipsed: How do you see the development over the last five years?

Waber: Since we slipped into Century Media almost ten years ago, a lot has calmed down. In principle, the last five years have been a continuation of this very stable phase. Meanwhile we are a one hundred percent Sony subsidiary, yes, actually a major label. That's certainly a big change. Due to this stability it was possible for us to keep a lot of artists on the same level and to sign new bands here and there. The highlight was that we signed Dream Theater.
