In July of this year, the great jazz bassist Charlie Haden passed away, who released great albums alongside Keith Jarrett, Ornette Coleman, Pat Metheny and Carla Bley. In 1990 he met guitar legend Jim Hall for a rendezvous, which is finally released 24 years later. At last because it was a great moment of duo improvisation. Hall and Haden played exclusively standards, but the degree of intensity, individuality and mutual engagement cannot be topped at all. The ear sinks between the ten strings that set the tone here. It is a whole world of inspiration that reveals itself here, without demanding names or categories. Two great jazz musicians glide together unpretentiously into infinity. Fantastically beautiful, inspired in every single moment and never shallow.
