Damien Jurado has always been far from being an average folk-oriented singer-songwriter and has always had a penchant for psychedelic, spacy sound experiments. But he hasn't gone as far as on "Brothers And Sisters Of The Eternal Son" yet. It's a concept album that tells of a certain "silver community," a kind of religious community that seems to believe in a futuristic freak Jesus. Half of the songs have titles that connect a proper name with the adjective "Silver". Of course, he also musically provides for plenty of psychedelic moments, which put the acoustic folk songs in the shade. In between he also pops out one or two pop melodies, so that you don't get too dizzy in the middle of the silver psychotrip, unlike in the recent works of Flaming Lips. In this respect, it must be stated that Jurado has congenially found the balance he had been looking for for a long time.
